On Monday 8th June five hard-working representatives of the SRS School Council met The Mayor of London in a high profile event with lots of media attention. It was an exciting morning as five specially selected schools celebrated 1000 schools joining the London Young Ambassadors Team London Scheme. This initiative aims to inspire young people to engage in social action, both in their school and the local community. Team London Young Ambassadors is delivered in partnership with Free The Children, an international charity that educates, engages and empowers young people to become active local and global citizens. Our students were selected for their hard work so far this year, Nawwal is determined to stop the litter issues around the school, she also joined the ‘We are Silent Day.’ with Adeola. Abdullah played a key role in getting students to take part in the ‘Silent day’ which raised £292 for Macmillan Cancer Support and Charlie and Lily have been working hard on the development of the Student Newsletter for the school, and are now preparing the third edition. All were rewarded with a sunny morning outside City Hall, waving flags and taking in the view of Tower Bridge and the River Thames. They also got to see the whirlwind life of our Mayor as after finding time to talk to the students he was quickly whisked off for a press conference on Europe. Charlie Zajko  appeared in the independent and the event was shown on London Live as well as Sky News. The Sydney Russell green blazer makes out students highly visible next to Mr Johnson!
